Dear Hospital Staff, We are looking forward to having our baby here at ABC hospital.  We have spent a lot of time researching and developing a good understanding of the process my body and baby are about to go through.  I have chosen to work through this time without medication, using my partner and doula to help keep my comfortable.  I would like your help during this time--I understand you need to monitor and check the vitals of myself and my baby, and appreciate your doing this the minimum  amount of time.  I also recognize that this labor may be different from what I expect, and I will make decisions along the way according to what my needs are at the time.   I plan on breastfeeding my baby and appreciate as much time to bond with him/her as possible after the birth.
