Childbirth Preparation Classes

These classes are geared towards expectant couples who want to maximize what they learn with the time they have.  I
often teach groups of friends or privately to couples in their home.  You will learn what to expect and do during labor
and delivery.  If you are looking for large group classes, I recommend
Great Starts

Private or Small Group Classes in your Home

Standard Class
I have had great success with these classes.  Everything is tailored to your needs.  They are quick, informative and fun!
Many couples group together friends who are expecting around the same time and I will come teach your group in the
location of your choice.  Classes for any size--up to 10 couples can be arranged at your convenience.

Time Needed:  Two meetings each about 2 hours long.  Expect longer if you add in more couples due to increased
volume of questions and chit chat!!

Refresher Course
The same as my standard class only shorter!  If you've been through this before and just want to prepare for labor and
delivery this is the course for you!  All of the wisdom in the half the time is yours.

Time Needed:  One Meeting approximately two hours long.

VBAC Preparation Course
For women who have had a cesarean section and are planning on a VBAC.  This course tells you what to do to give
yourself the best possible chance of having a vaginal birth after cesarean.  It will prepare you to know that you have
done everything possible to give yourself the type of birth you wanted.  You will feel educated, capable, and empowered
to go for it!  Please note that participants should be sure that their provider supports their choice for VBAC.  If you are
not comfortable with your provider's response to your desire for a VBAC, please
email me and I can help you identify
local practices who support VBACs.  I have successfully helped many women through this time (including myself) and
look forward to helping you prepare.

Time Needed:  Either one or two meetings two hours long.  Time will depend on your previous experience.  Call for
more information.

Group Classes
Standard preparation classes are offered on an ongoing basis.  They are taught in a variety of locations, usually in the
Seward Park area or Mercer Island.  Many expectant parents wonder why it takes me three sessions to accomplish what
most programs take 10 to do.  The answer is found in my childbirth education philosophy.  Most programs will give
expectant parents tens of thousands of bits of information to absorb regarding pregnancy, labor, and delivery.  I will tell
you what you need to know in order to
birth your child, based on my observation of women from many cultures and
backgrounds while they birthed.  You will learn about how to use your body to facilitate the birth of your baby.  You will
learn coping techniques that will work for
you as well as options for pain relief.  Your partner will get real tools to help
support you throughout labor and delivery.  This class assumes that you have read
basic books about your pregnancy
and that you take part in regular prenatal care.

Time Needed:  Three meetings of two hours each.

All classes except the refresher course are $75.00 per couple.  The refresher course is $50.00 per couple.
