SeattleBirthNet: Childbirth Education Philosophy Childbirth Education and Labor Support for Expectant Families
My view on childbirth education is that your time is best spent preparing to use your mind and body as the catalyst for the birth of your baby. We will focus on:
Knowing what to expect during Labor and Delivery from your body and your baby
Understanding the powerful connection between your trust in your body and baby to know what to do and your ability to be able to follow those messages
Creating a basic paradigm of childbirth as a normal life process that you can accomplish with empathy for your baby's experience and scientific understanding of what your body can do
Creating a birth plan which you fully understand--you will have the opportunity to learn about the variety of procedures and options that you will likely be presented with in the place you are choosing to birth
Working with your partner to give him a basic understanding of comfort measures
Homework! You will be given lists of resources and suggestions for educating yourself on your pregnancy, labor, and delivery. Quizzes you can do with your partner, help finding and hiring a doula and evaluating the options you have for locations and providers as desired
